BRAZ-TESOL elections: why your vote matters

Dear TDSIGers,

From November 6 to 20, BRAZ-TESOL will hold elections for its Executive Board, Advisory Council and Finance Council for 2027–2028. The TDSIG invites all eligible members to take part. BRAZ-TESOL is a non-profit association led by its members, and those elected to its boards serve without pay. Your vote helps decide who will guide our priorities, represent our community and look after the association’s resources. Here is what each position involves:

Executive Board

The Executive Board manages the association, implements its plan of activities and prepares its annual report and budget.

  • Vice President: Coordinates national events, supports the President and stands in when needed. The Vice President also automatically succeeds the President when the presidential term ends, so this vote also helps determine the association’s future presidency.
  • Communications Director: Promotes BRAZ-TESOL’s activities and coordinates its publications, official media presence and communications.
  • Members Director: Keeps SIG and Chapter leaders informed of the association’s guidelines, notifies members of meetings and events, and keeps the association’s correspondence and meeting minutes. This director also serves as Data Protection Officer under Brazil’s data protection law (LGPD).
  • Finance Director: Oversees financial matters and accounting records, prepares the budget and annual balance sheet, and promotes the collection of membership contributions and sponsorship.

Advisory Council (six elected members)

The Advisory Council sets the association’s guidelines and general plan of activities. It also approves the annual budget and the criteria for membership contributions. Its six elected members serve alongside the five directors and former presidents.

Finance Council (three members)

The Finance Council provides independent technical opinions on the proposed budget, the board’s accounts and the association’s financial statements.

  • Before you vote: Read each candidate’s biodata and statement of purpose and consider what you would like BRAZ-TESOL to prioritize in the coming years.
  • Voting period: November 6–20, 2026
  • Results: November 23, 2026
